Miami Moving Companies

There is alot of competition between movers in Miami. So as long as you find the moving company you can definitely get a great deal. I have actually called a few to get price and found we have some of the cheapest prices in the country. One good way to find the best mover is throught a friend or re - feral.I have also found out that when you mention to the movers you were recommended through someone the price goes up for some reason. So if you do find a good moving company don't even mention your you were refereed.Just call them up get the quote yourself. The Quality of work will be the same you just mite save some money.

Bad Moving Companies

Just about everyone has heard about the horror stories that come along with moving. This is what gave the industry such a bad rap. Altough there are some shady companies out there, there are still plenty of good movers out there. You just have to know where and how to look.

The most important thing to remember when getting quotes is: if it's too good to be true, it probably is. It may be tempting to book the mover with the lowest price, but trust me, they are not all created equal. Get at least 3-4 estimates and make sure the estimates you are comparing are all based on the same weight, and that all additional or accessorial services are included on each as well. If one estimate lists a charge for something that the other does not, ask why not. If the truck shows up on moving day and has to provide that service, they will charge you whether it was on the quote or not. This especially holds true if you were quoted by phone. It is better to know the price upfront than to be suprised later.

These days with the economy in the shape that it's in, we have seen movers doing whatever they can to survive by getting your business. This surge in competion may be great for the consumer, but it is important to be cautious. If any one quote is drastically lower than the others, be wary. Also, find out what the regulations are for your state. For intrastate moves, some states require separate licensing. For interstate moves, all moving companies are required to be registered with the FMCSA Division of the Department of Transportation and must have an MC and US DOT number.

The best way to save money and aggravation during your relocation is to do your research, know your rights, and be realistic. Check your mover out with the FMCSA to make sure they have authority to operate, and make sure you receive Your Rights and Responsibilities When you Move handbook (your mover is required to provide this to you).

Local Movers in Florida

Moving in Florida can be very tricky. There are alot of regulations in this state so finding the right moving company might not be as easy as you think. For example, moving companies providing intrastate (pick up and delivery are both in Florida) relocation services must be registered with the Florida Department of Transportation and must have a FL DOT number. A US DOT number alone will not allow them to legally act as an intrastate carrier . If they are operating in South Florida, they must be licenced in each county they service (Dade,Broward and Palm beach). Also, if the moving company you decide to use is located within 50 miles of your pick up location, they are required to give you a physical estimate, or an estimate performed at your home or office where an estimator can view the belongings to be transported. A physical estimate, also refered to as an in-home estimate, will give the moving company a better idea of what needs to be done to transport your things safely. A good mover will know exactly where to look while doing a walk-through. He/she will check in closets, cabinets, attics, outdoors, etc. to make sure nothing is left out of the quote. The estimator will also calcualte the number and type of boxes necessary to do the job.

Local Movers in New York

Most people don't realize that moving in New York City can be a very difficult process. There are many restrictions involved when moving to or from this city. For example, if you are in Manhattan, you are only allowed to use a 28-foot truck or smaller. Also, you will need to get a permit to park the truck on your block or risk getting a costly ticket.

There are movers out there who don't know the regulations which are specific to New York City, and many of them will add the unexpected expenses to your bill. If they receive a ticket for parking without the required permit, they will charge it to you. In the case of a long distance move, if they need to park further away, you will be charged for a long carry (when the truck must park more than 75 feet from your door or entrance to your building). With a local move (pick up and delivery are less than 50 miles apart and are within New York state), you will be charged by the hour, and of course, parking a block or more away will increase the amount of hours necessary to perform the job.

Avoid unexpected charges by seeking a company who is familiar with both your pick up and destination cities. This way, if there are additional expenses because of permits, long carries, or any other costs associated with your move, you will be aware so you can budget accordingly. Have You Recently Had A Good Moving Experience?

Other than death, I believe that the entire moving experience is one of the most stressful things in life. Uprooting your entire family just seems like a hard and difficult time in one's life especially in these difficult economic times. Even when thoroughly planned moving can still be very stressful experience. So we would like to know if anyone has recently had a "pleasant" moving experience? Tell us how you were able to accomplish a satisfying move. Did you plan far in advance? Did you start packing a month in advance? Did you greatly downsize and get rid of a lot of junk? Let us know honest thoughts.

And speaking of difficult economic times, did anyone watch the CNBC interview with Warren Buffett last week? I watched the entire show intently and found his comments and remarks very insightful and cause for hope in the near future. Many Americans are afraid to spend any money on non-essential items; so many are afraid of losing their jobs that we are hanging on to every penney. I think what Mr. Buffett said about the President coming out and reassuring the American that the stimulus package will work would, I think, bring back confidence to the general public that our economy will rebound and be much stronger because of the large investments being made into the sorely taxed infrastructure of our country. Unfortunately, many Americans will be displaced during this changing economy and will be forced to move to various parts of the country or even the world.
